    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    When is the Parade?

The Parade is always held on a Saturday. If St. Patrick’s Day (which is always on March 17th) does not fall on a Saturday, the Parade is held the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day. The Parade always steps off at Noon.

Where can I view the Parade?

The Parade route begins on the corner of Tejon Street and E. St. Vrain and continues south on Tejon Street to Vermijo. The best seats are at the St. Pat’s Reviewing Stands; tickets are only available online. We think these seats are the best because there are bleachers, and the announcers tell you what’s going on. It’s also where we seat our VIPs. So yeah, be posh about it.

However, if you’d like to enjoy a pint or a dram while watching the parade, you can join us at the Paddy O’ Pub on Bijou Street, just east of Tejon (right by Acacia Park!).  We’ll be serving Irish beer and whiskey while the 5k, Fun Run, and Parade are happening, and then we have to skedaddle once the parade is over so Bijou can open back up to regular traffic! So stop into this pop-up pub for a unique experience!

We also suggest grabbing a spot on one of the patios of our favorite downtown haunts: Jack Quinn’s, Colorado Craft, Tony’s Downtown Bar, Oskar Blue’s, or Jose Muldoons!

However, the whole length of Tejon provides plenty of places to watch from, just keep yourself and any wee little ones behind the chalk line!

    Where can I park?

Best place to park is in any one of the City Parking Garages or other downtown parking lots. Street Meters will be working! If you park in residential areas, please be respectful of driveways and landscaping! Illegal parking can result in tickets, fines or having your car towed!

How long does the Parade last?

The Parade typically lasts about 1-1/2 hours.

How do I dress for the Parade and what's the weather like on St. Paddy's Day?

We’d like to see EVERYONE dressed in GREEN (or orange or white – colors of the Irish flag)! Paint a shamrock on your cheek! Add some green glitter to your hair! Have fun! But seriously, the weather in Colorado Springs can change quickly! So wear all your green layers, find some shamrock sunglasses, and be prepared for all the seasons!

    What about food and drinks?

Food and drink are sold at numerous locations along the parade route at local restaurants and pubs and at food booths on the street. Booths will serve soft drinks, hot dogs, burgers, tamales, etc. along with beverages. In addition, there are many restaurants in downtown Colorado Springs. Alcohol is not allowed anywhere outside along the parade route.

What happened to Lenny?

Ah, the tale of Lenny, our mischievous, pint-sized protector of St. Patrick’s Day, is one for the ages! Back in 2020, just as we were ready to roll out the green carpet for the parade, our wee friend up and vanished! One minute he’s twirling his shillelagh, the next—poof! Gone like a puff of shamrock smoke.

Rumor has it, Lenny got caught in a bit of a magical pickle. Some say he was off chasing a rainbow that led him astray, while others believe he might’ve wandered too far into a mystical pub and lost track of time—two years to be exact. We all know Leprechauns aren’t great with clocks!

In his absence, of course, we couldn’t have the grand festivities in 2020 and 2021. After all, what’s a parade without our lucky Leprechaun leading the charge? But never fear, Lenny’s been spotted again, leaving behind tiny clues and glittering gold hints, so we’ve declared it time to Locate the Leprechaun!

This year, gather the young ones and help us find Lenny on the Saturday before the big parade. Sign up your little detectives, grab your best magnifying glasses, and prepare for a day of leprechaun-hunting adventures! Let’s bring Lenny back so the parade can be as grand as ever. Sláinte!
